Description

This comprehensive three-day course which can be taken as a trade body or regulated (RQF) qualification that covers a wide range of First Aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with an emergency situation with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 (effective from 1st October 2009).

Duration

A minimum of 18 hours over at least three days. Ideally, the course should be run over three consecutive days but we have the flexibility to accommodate specific needs. Blended learning is available for First Aid at Work courses, for details please contact us.

Syllabus

 A range of subjects is covered including:

 

  •     Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  •     Assessment of the situation
  •     Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  •     Shock (including Anaphylaxis)
  •     Resuscitation
  •     Head injuries
  •     Chest injuries
  •     Asthma
  •     Bandaging
  •     Strains
  •     Diabetes
  •     Fractures and spinal injuries
  •     Control of bleeding
  •     Heart attacks
  •     Eye injuries
  •     Sprains
  •     Epilepsy
  •     Choking
  •     Fractures
  •     Poisoning
  •     Burns

 

If your organisation has a specific area of training that is not included or you require a more in depth session, then we can accommodate you by providing additional training in that subject.

Certification

No assessment is required and learners will be continually monitored by the trainer with a certificate of attendance awarded after the course. It is recommended that First Aiders take a 3 hour refresher course annually to keep up to date, although this is not compulsory. Learners can continually refresh their skills through our free video's anytime and anywhere.
