How long does a fire risk assessment or Health and safety audit take?

One of our assessors will be at your site for approximately 2 to 3 hours and you will have a full report within 48 hours.


Do I need to close the office whilst the assessment is being carried out?

No, we will work around you and your staff, we will just need some of your time to answer some questions whilst we are there.


What is a risk?

Risk is the chance, high or low, of somebody being harmed by the hazard, and how serious the harm could be.


Why do I need a fire risk assessment?

Under the Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005 it is a legal requirement for all businesses to have a Fire Risk Assessment carried out for their premises by a competent person annually.


I have delegated all of the Health and Safety planning to my manager so it’s down to them isn’t it?

No, it’s not you can delegate but you are still the responsible person and it’s you who will be prosecuted if safe systems of work have not been put in place properly.


How frequently do I need to have PAT testing carried out?

PAT testing should be carried out every 12 to 18 months by a competent person with certification and records should be kept.


We rent the build so surely fire safety is down to the landlord?

No, it is you who is responsible to keep your staff and members of the public safe, do check your tenancy agreement but ultimately you are responsible.


How often should we do fire drills?

Fire drills should be carried out every six months and recorded, and all staff should have had the appropriate training and be clear on the evacuation procedure’s and where the assembly points are. This is important and should be done on their induction.
